With Jetlag (Angelos Novus), I wanted to make the painting live.
Like a plant bulb, a globe shaped short stem with fleshy leaves, a food storage organ dur- ing dormancy.
Roots emerge from the underside of the base, and new stems and leaves from the upper side.
It is a monstrous form, scattered but pulsing.
The painting changes in the light of the morning: darkens to protect itself, to demonstrate itself, like an animal caught eating its prey, caught giving birth, caught in its primordial ele- ment. Bare, alert, sentient and unresolved. Fearsome yet fragile. Afloat, aghast, on-going.
